What about MTB Mt Cook? Mountain Bike Mt Cook is run by the teams at Helibike.com and Discovery Tours who are experienced Tour Operators and mountain bikers. This website and business came about through a frustration at the lack of local mountain biking information and infrastructure available to both locals and visitors alike. Our main mountain bikers and guides are:

Vernon Reid runs the guiding company Discovery Tours and is an avid Mountain biker, rock climber, skier and tramper. We challenge you to find someone who knows more about the Mt Cook walking and biking trails than Vernon! His local claim to fame is that he has driven Tom Cruise around Mount Cook while he was filming The Last Samurai, driven Orcs from Mt Cook to Twizel for the big LOTR battle scenes and got to watch parts of both being filmed. Personally, we love the fact he bakes a mean banana cake!

Sara Leadbetter is an experienced Tourism Business Advisor and a mountain biker from the days when mountain bikes were no more than road bikes with different tyres! She's mountain biked in many countries all around the world yet hates uphills! Her favourite mountain bike trip was a week spent in the French Alps where she didn't have to ride a single uphill all week thanks to the French linked ski lift system!

Mark Wallace-Bell is our bike expert. At home on any bike, road or mountain, he's happy to ride all day every day, uphill or down. A psychologist, a registered nurse and a practicing Behaviour Change Consultant, he's fascinating and entertaining to talk with. He promises not to analyse you...

Dawn Goorah, our office manager extraordinaire is originally from the UK but saw the light and moved to NZ. Mum of two, she's the best low fat muffin maker in town because she used to chef in her own cafe! Dawn drinks cappuccino coffee like it's on tap.
